UDEM is divided into the
areas of Education & Humanities; Business; Law &
Social Science; Health Sciences; Art; Architecture, Design
& Engineering; and Graduate Studies. Every department
within UDEM offers at least two courses taught in
English in which both degree students and visiting
students may enroll. Visiting students will typically
enroll in 4-5 courses per semester which includes 48
class contact hours, homework assignments, quizzes and
hour exams as well as a final exam. To view courses

Graduate exchanges at UDEM are possible for one
semester, the academic year or the summer. Typically,
students can choose from graduate or upper-level
undergraduate courses. Students may choose to complete
courses only, research only, courses and research
combined, or an internship. Students may also wish to
take an online course offered by their home university.
You may contact
Hilde Gonzalez for more details.
Students who are already fluent in Spanish may take any
courses taught in Spanish.
A Spanish fluency exam
(written and oral) is administered upon arrival and
non-native speakers are enrolled in an appropriate
language course (basic, intermediate, or advanced) if
desired. An Oral Communication course (basic,
intermediate, or advanced) is also available.
Typically, there are several literature courses also
offered, such as Contemporary Latin American Literature,
Literature from the XXth Century, American Literature,
and Literature Seminar.
